Lot 1094
1840-C. PCGS graded AU-58. Untoned with lots of luster evident in the fields, and a bold strike is noted on the devices. Notice the eagle's talons show each of their tiny knobs. The 1 is repunched is the date as normally seen on this scarce early Charlotte Mint date. The majority of the known coins fall well short of this example, not only in grade, but in strike and visual appeal. Only 12,822 struck. Pop 15; 12 finer, 1 in 60, 2 in 61, 4 in 62, 5 in 63. (PCGS # 7718) Estimate Value $4,500 - 5,000

Lot 1101
1860-C. PCGS graded AU-55. Both sides display a hint of gold tone. This is a scarce issue, struck right on the cusp of the Civil War at the Charlotte Mint. The obverse die was reasonably fresh but the reverse die is worn in the fields and this caused most of the coins to be poorly struck up. This one retrains luster and good eye appeal. A condition rarity that is challenging to find this nice. Only 7,469 struck. Pop 12; 7 finer, 3 in 58, 4 in 61. (PCGS # 7792) Estimate Value $4,000 - 4,500
